Join Illinois Poet Laureate Angela Jackson for an evening of Life as a Laureate. She’ll discuss her tenure as Illinois Poet Laureate including highlights of people she’s met and places she’s been. She’ll also talk about some of her accomplishments as the Poet Laureate and how she inspires the love and joy of poetry in all of us.This program will take place on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in Union Theater at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. The program is free to attend, but advance registration is required. Doors will open at 6:00 P.M; program will begin at 6:30 P.M. Ms. Jackson will be available after the program to sign copies of her poetry books. The following titles will be available for purchase: More Than Meat and Raiment ($21.25), It Seems Like a Mighty Long Time ($20.15), and Dark Legs and Silk Kisses ($18.00).An evening with Illinois Poet Laureate Angela Jackson is made possible by Springfield Area Arts Council through a bequest from Bobette Gerlach and by Illinois Humanities, in collaboration with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
