World War II Illinois Veterans Memorial
Honoring the 987,000 men and women from Illinois who served our country during WWII, the 22-ton cast white concrete globe symbolizes the conflict that involved more than 200 nations. More than 70 stainless steel buttons on the globe signify the major battles and events of World War II. Two black granite walls extend out from the globe approximately 100 ft and are engraved with the major battles and events of World War II.
