Happy New Year! There is no time like the present to start working on this year's garden! Cold winter days are the perfect time to start your garden—and a great opportunity to support native plants and the pollinators that depend on them. Native plants provide essential food and habitat for bees, butterflies, birds, and other wildlife. We're looking forward to collaborating with the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener and Master Naturalist volunteers to present a series of hands-on winter sowing workshops, sharing an easy, eco-friendly way to grow native plants using recycled containers as mini greenhouses. Seeds are provided, and seed sharing is encouraged!

Many native plants need cold, moist conditions to germinate. Winter sowing lets nature do the work—simple, sustainable, and perfect for beginners.
