“Susan Lawrence Dana: A Great Lady Lived Here,” tells the story of Susan Lawrence Dana, original owner of what is now the Dana-Thomas House State Historic Site. Adapted and directed by Kevin Purcell and performed by Leigh Steiner, it features a first-person interpretation of Mrs. Dana’s life and encourages the viewer to take a deeper look into the story of, in Purcell’s words, “a woman who had the fortitude and imagination to create her own path in a time when few women were given this opportunity.” The film version was produced by Rich Saal of Long Nine Media. State Historic Sites of Springfield thank the Dana-Thomas House Foundation for their generous support in making this program available to the public.
