The Hoogland Center for the Arts is proud to present August Wilson's Fences, the winner of the 1987 Tony Award® for Best Play and the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play will be presented in the Peggy Ryder Theatre on the Third Floor November 14-16 and 21-23. Fences will be directed by Reggie Guyton.

Set in the 1950s, in a segregated Pittsburgh, the play revolves around Troy Maxson, a once-promising baseball player in the Negro Leagues whose dreams were crushed by racial discrimination. Now working as a sanitation worker, Troy struggles with the burdens of his past while attempting to provide for his family. However, his efforts are often misguided and contradictory, as he tries to protect his loved ones while also creating emotional and psychological walls between them.
