Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight: Festival Concert | Springfield, Illinois | Visit Springfield

February 24, 2024

University of Illinois Springfield Performing Arts Center
One University Plaza, Springfield

Fourteen years ago, a stack of music was found amongst the papers of the black Chicagoan composer Florence Price: it was her long-lost cantata "Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight," set to the poem by Springfield native Vachel Lindsay. And now this lost & found masterpiece will be heard for the first time in Springfield, the city of both Lincoln and Lindsay. The Springfield Choral Society will join forces with the UIS Orchestra and baritone soloist Justin Johnson, under the baton of Jacobsen Woollen.
Admission is free. No reservations required.
