The 18th Annual International Route 66 Mother Road Festival cruises into Downtown Springfield on September 27 – 29!
Come celebrate the Golden Age of Route 66…From classic cars to live music & food this festival features over 1,100 cars and over 80,000 spectators. Grab your friends and family and head to Downtown Springfield where you won’t pay a thing, yep it's FREE, to see the cars and listen to music.
Friday night the 18th Annual International Route 66 Mother Road Festival kicks off the weekend with the Route 66 City Night Cruise for Crimestoppers. Cars line up at the Capital City Shopping Center and cruise through Springfield right into the heart of Downtown. While the cars roar in, enjoy live music by “N.C.R.” on the Main Stage.
What’s happening on Saturday, you ask?? Tons of FUN stuff, that’s what!! Enjoy the Old Capitol Farmers Market. Visit the Springfield Visitors Center and get a sneak peek at our exciting new program, “Living Legends,” which is launching in 2020. Living Legends recognizes local restaurant & business owners that are “Born & Bread” into the Mother Road. While you are here pick up a copy of our Visitors Guide and be sure to visit our world class sites!
Check out the auto eye-candy at the Monet of Cars, Dick Levi’s exciting private collection of cool and classic cars. Don’t forget about the Miss Route 66 Festival Pin-Up Contest.
Then get ready for some smokin' tires and burnin' rubber during the Burnout Competition. It’s the loudest and smokiest burnout and it’s a crowd favorite…and you’ll see why!
Don’t you worry…there is no lack of music this weekend! Dance the night away to live music on the Main Stage by “The Fundamentals”, “For the Love of Lennon” & “JukeRox”.
Grub on some festival food & drinks while wandering around the downtown browsing cars and taking it all in. Don’t forget to grab our own 18th Year Mother Road Souvenirs to take home with you.
Visit the Travel IL Expo and inspire yourself to “head out on the highway” and Enjoy Illinois! Stop by the DSI Tent and pick up a “Cruise the Shops” list to play. Collect a raffle ticket at each location for your chance at winning a basket full of downtown goodies worth $200!! Time to get your shop on!!
Wrapping up the weekend on Sunday is the Awards Ceremony on the Main Stage. Stop and see if your favorite car wins an award!

3 pm: Show cars line up at Capital City Shopping Center Parking Lot for Route 66 City Nights Cruise for Crime Stoppers - Cruise from Capital City Shopping Center Parking Lot at 3095 S Dirksen Pkwy. (A $5 On-Site Donation to Crime Stoppers of Sangamon & Menard Counties requested to participate)
6pm: Route 66 City Nights Cruise for Crime Stoppers rolls out and heads towards Downtown
8 pm - 10 pm: Live music by “N.C.R.” (Modern Country, Classic Rock, & Pop) on the Main Stage
