The Road That Takes You: An Exhibition by Route 66 Photographer and Storyteller David J. Schwartz.

For the past twenty years David has traveled Route 66 not only with his camera, but with his heart. He has returned again and again to the same towns, the same stretches of
road, and the same people who make the Mother Road what it is. Along the way he has been searching for the perfect light and the right moment to photograph these places in a way that honors the spirit of the road.

It is not a museum piece. It is a living road. That philosophy became the foundation for my photographic series The Road That Takes You. This long form body of work explores the living culture of Route 66 as the road enters its second century. The project has been recognized as a Route 66 Centennial Commission Certified Project. The Springfield installation at The Pharmacy Gallery & Art Space marks the first public presentation of the series.
