Barack Obama Historical Marker at the Old State Capitol
On February 10, 2007, United State Senator Barack Obama announced his presidential candidacy on the steps of the Old State Capitol Historic Site. He would go on to win the election in 2008 and become the 44th President of the United States of America and first African American President. This marker commemorates his announcement in 2007 and his return to announce his running mate in 2008.
