The Hoogland Center for the Arts is proud to present 1776 July 1 through July 5. There will be a 2pm matinee on Saturday, July 4. This patriotic musical will be performed in the LRS Theatre at the Hoogland in honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
With music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and a book by Peter Stone, this Tony-Award-winning show recreates the signing of the Declaration of Independence in a deeply human way. Through song, dance, irreverent comedy, and gripping drama, this historically accurate musical brings John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and the rest of the Second Continental Congress to life in an exciting stage presentation that highlights one of the most critical moments in American history. The Hoogland’s production will be directed by Gus Gordon, with vocal direction by Mark Gifford, and a set designed by Paul Presney, Jr.
