VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP
Stop by Anvil and Forge afterwork On Wednesday October 16 at 5:30 p.m. to grab a drink and discover the fascinating history of the “American Elephant.” European awareness of American mastodons occurred around the founding of our country. It was a time of conflict between scientific reason, religion, and westward expansion. Differing ideas on these mysterious giants reflect changes in scientific thought and American national identity. Over time, the mastodon has fallen out of the minds of national political leaders, but there are still plenty of mysteries surrounding this iconic animal and stories to be told. This is a free program.
Special thanks to our host Anvil and Forge. History Happy Hour is a partnership program between the Illinois State Museum and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. For more information, please contact dnr.ism.events@illinois.gov or (217) 782-6044.
