Part of the Monarch Migrating Murals – The migrating mural is a series of public art installations highlighting wildlife along migration corridors they share with people. The purpose is to tie Route 66 history with natural history, with a pair of complementary murals that create a “pollinator alley” on each wall.

Springfield Illinois Fire Department Fire House Station 1
Celebrating Springfield since 1840, honoring the Springfield Fire Department for their service and sacrifice.

Inspiration for his murals draws from vintage luggage and car decals that were commonly associated with establishments such as hotels, restaurants, railways, and cruise companies. The specific design styles gained notoriety through the work of Lindgren Turner Co. who adhered to a palette of eight colors, known for their vibrant and striking hues.

The design was inspired by the classic Americana travel decals by Lindgren-Turner Co. of the mid-century. “On this beautiful historical stretch of Route 66, spanning 1.4 miles of hand laid brick, the mural commemorates the dedicated bricklayers who crafted this road, enduring back-breaking labor to create a lasting piece of American history.”
