What
an amazing time to get out and enjoy nature. We are here to say getting outside
and breathing in the fresh air is what we all need sometimes, and the good news is,
Springfield has multiple parks, trails and green spaces for you to stroll,
relax, and enjoy. And we are here to encourage it!!
A few of our larger spaces:
Southwind Park has 80 acres of amazing space including 2.5 miles of urban
trails to enjoy. Bring your fishing poles and try to catch bluegill, catfish or
bass in the lake that is located in the center of the park.
Lincoln Memorial Garden &
Nature Center offers
over 5 miles of trails that lead you on a journey through IL woodland and
prairie gardens that Lincoln would have known. See all the plants and flowers
as the transition from green to colorful. You will be surrounded by beauty
here! Being located on the shores of Lake Springfield, you will also enjoy the sound
of the lake as you stroll by.
Washington Park has tons of large trees, wooded areas and rolling terrain
throughout with two man made lagoons to enjoy. There is no way you will miss
the beauty of fall here. This is the perfect place to not only walk in but
also enjoy a run or bike through. There are off road trails provided to do a
little hiking too.
Adams Wildlife Sanctuary has over 40 acres of urban woodland, prairie and wetlands
with plenty to explore this time of year. Trails in this sanctuary are open for
hiking and strolling through. Located in the center of town, this park is
easy to find and enjoy.
