Cubs vs. Cardinals: The Rivalry at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum
Now - December 31st: Daily: 9 am - 5 pm
Visitors will see rare artifacts and photographs. They’ll learn about legendary players like Mordecai Brown and Rogers Hornsby and newer stars like Jake Arrieta and Yadier Molina. They’ll also be able to interact with the exhibit by sharing their own Cards-Cubs memories, answering trivia questions and playing a home run derby as their favorite team. “The Rivalry” was developed in conjunction with the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals, an unprecedented partnership from all three organizations for an exhibit of this type.

Kings & Queens: Pinball, Imagists and Chicago Exhibition at the Illinois State Museum
Monday - Saturday: 9am - 4:30 pm, Sunday: Noon to 4:30 pm
This interactive exhibition is an examination of the intertwined history of two of Chicago’s greatest exports: pinball and imagist painting. Guests are invited to play pinball on Chicago-built pinball machines alongside paintings, sculptures and prints inspired by them, including works by Roger Brown, Ed Flood, Gladys Nilsson, Ed Paschke, Christina Ramberg, Suellen Rocca, Barbara Rossi, Karl Wirsum and Ray Yoshida. The exhibition also features original works by Constantino Mitchell a long time pinball artist. Pinball was but one inspiration for these artists, along with the city’s many color storefronts, campy product ads, and hand painted and neon commercial signs.

History Comes Alive Various Historic Sites in Springfield

Many sites and attractions in historic Springfield will be brimming with free live performances and fun activities that will transport you and your family back in time – to the Springfield Abraham Lincoln knew and loved. From storytelling and interaction with costumed interpreters to visits with Mr. Lincoln, himself, this is a trip to the past you won't want to miss! History Comes Alive will run through August.

56th International Carillon Festival at the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon
Thursday & Friday: Concert: 6:30 pm
The International Carillon Festival, in beautiful Washington Park, features concerts by some of the world's finest carillonists. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Don't miss the Festival fireworks Friday evening. During the past five decades, the Festival has featured carillonists from: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, and the USA. Individuals and families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner as well as lawn chairs and blankets. There is large video screen are the base of the Carillon which allows the audience to view the carillonist during the performance. Fireworks on Friday June 9 at dusk (~9:15 pm) Fireworks Rain date, Saturday June 10, at dusk.

Illinois Products Farmers Market on the Illinois State Fairgrounds: The Shed
Thursday: 4 pm - 7 pm
The Commodities Pavilion will come alive with local Illinois vendors, entertainment, and health-related activities. Products range from produce, meat, eggs, plants, specialty products, wine and beer - all produced right here in Illinois.

Music at the Museum Series at the Illinois State Museum
Thursday: 7 pm - 9 pm
The Yellow Bellied Sap Suckers perform original songs and tunes inspired by the classic hillbilly, country-duo, and old-time musical traditions–and also mines this same repertoire for forgotten gems that deserve to be heard again. Based in Soldiers Grove, WI, the Sapsuckers (Nikki Grossman, guitar, fiddle, and vocals; Joe Hart, guitar, mandolin, and vocals) perform frequent concerts, as well as square and contra dances, and they are known for the light touch and sense of humor they bring to their performance.

Wright Concepts at the Dana-Thomas House - A Frank Lloyd Wright House
Friday: 10:15 am & 1:15 pm
Join longtime volunteer Larry Betz on an extended tour of the Dana Thomas House. Betz will guide you on a discussion about the design principles behind Wright’s “Prairie School” architecture, which emphasized horizontal lines in order to blend in with the natural surroundings of the Midwest. The tour promises visitors a new perspective on Wright’s architectural vision, even if they’ve visited the site before. Call the site at 217-782-6776 to reserve your place on this tour.

Willy Wonka at The Springfield Muni

Roald Dahl's timeless story of the world famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to chocolate-covered life. The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale.

Old Capitol Farmers Market in Downtown Springfield

Saturday: 8 am - 12:30 pmThe Old Capitol Farmers Market can be found in the heart of Downtown Springfield. At the market, you’ll find local farm and artisan vendors selling fresh produce, artisanal baked goods and cheeses, flowers and more. The market is just steps from the Old State Capitol historic site and you’ll find other sites like the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, Lincoln Home and Dana-Thomas House a Frank Lloyd Wright Design nearby!

Monster Truck Nationals in the Illinois State Fariground
Saturday: 5 pm - 6:45 pm, Sunday: 1 pm - 2:45 pm
The astonishing speed, sound, and fury of colossal 10,000-pound, ten-foot-tall machines going for broke in a high-flying, all-out showdown are the ingredients for an unforgettable night of entertainment. The Monster Truck Nationals are BACK for a high-velocity shootout at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
Grandstand seating is LIMITED. Additional lawn seating will be available for all shows. THIS IS A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. Feel free to bring lawn chairs for lawn seating.

The Restoration of the Dana-Thomas House at the Dana-Thomas House - A Frank Lloyd Wright House

The State of Illinois restoration of the Dana-Thomas House was a five-year project that returned the house to its appearance in 1910. The restoration project included the completion of a Historic Structure Report and a three-phase construction project that was finished in 1990.

Join acclaimed musicians David Cain and Larry Gray for an exploration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s legacy through music and words. Cain and Gray will perform in the reception room of the historic house, guiding guests on a memorable journey of interpretation and improvisation.

29th Annual Ansar Classic Cars Car Show at Lincoln Park

75th Annual Midwest Charity Horse Show in the Illinois State Fairgrounds
Tusday - Saturday: 10:30 am - 1 pm & 6:30 pm - 9 pm
One of the premier horse shows in the United States, the Midwest Charity Horse Show features American Saddlebred, Roadster, Morgan and Arabian horses and Hackney ponies. Since its inception, the Midwest Charity Horse Show, an all-volunteer organization, has donated its annual proceeds to a Springfield area charity.

Bites on the Boulevard - A Food Truck Meet-Up at District 23
